Using Custom Domains

Already own a domain? Connect it from the Domains page — Zitegen checks its status and walks you through the DNS records it needs. SSL is issued automatically once it verifies.

Connecting a root domain (e.g. example.com, not www.example.com)? Zitegen detects it and shows the right setup for wherever your DNS is hosted — see the publishing guide for the details.

Don't have one yet? Search and register a new domain without leaving the dashboard — real registration and transfer, handled through Zitegen's registrar integration, including the WHOIS contact details a registration legally requires.

Custom domains and SSL are available on the Pro plan and above — not on Free.

Once your custom domain verifies, your site's original yoursite.zitegen.app address automatically stops being indexed by search engines — so it never competes with, or gets found instead of, the domain you actually want ranked. It still works (both addresses keep serving the same live site), it just isn't the one search engines list anymore. This reverses automatically if you disconnect the custom domain.
