Custom domains
Connect a domain you own with one CNAME record — Cloudflare handles verification and SSL for you.
Zitegen serves custom domains through Cloudflare Pages, so connecting one is a single DNS change on your side — there's nothing to configure on Zitegen's.
Connect a domain you own
Open Domains in your site settings and enter the hostname you want to use — a subdomain like
www.example.com is the most common. Zitegen attaches it to your site's Cloudflare Pages project and shows the single DNS record you need to add at your registrar.- Record type
- CNAME
- Points to
{slug}.pages.dev- Where to add it
- Your domain registrar's DNS settings
Automatic SSL
Once your DNS change propagates, Cloudflare verifies ownership and issues an SSL certificate for the domain automatically. There's no certificate to generate, upload, or renew — HTTPS is on from the moment the domain goes active, and stays on.
Watching it verify
The Domains panel shows a live status pill, and Cloudflare is the source of truth — Zitegen re-checks the real status rather than trusting a cached value. DNS can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to propagate, so a domain sitting on Pending for a short while is normal.
- Pending
- Waiting on DNS — the record isn't resolving to Cloudflare yet
- Active
- Verified and serving over HTTPS
- Error
- The record is missing or misconfigured — re-check the CNAME
Don't have a domain yet?
You can search for and register a brand-new domain without leaving the dashboard, including the WHOIS contact details a registration legally requires. See Using Custom Domains under Features for the full registration and connection workflow.
Plan requirement
Custom domains and their automatic SSL are available on the Pro plan and above — not on Free.
